I really do love my job and, in fact, it’s a passion of mine. I look forward to meeting new clients each with his or her own unique set of fitness goals and challenging them to not only meet but often exceed those goals.

My primary focus is to individually create a well-rounded program utilizing compound exercises that target multiple muscle groups simultaneously to improve all aspects of fitness including:
  • Endurance/Cardiovascular Fitness – keeping your heart rate up
  • Stamina – essentially energy
  • Strength
  • Flexibility
  • Power
  • Speed
  • Coordination
  • Agility
  • Balance (or Posture)
  • Accuracy (or Control)
What that REALLY boils down to is functional, practical training. I mean think about how everyday movement is…well….functional and compound! Every time you sit down or stand up, it’s essentially a squat, isn’t it? And think about how many muscle groups are activated the next time you are grabbing the Cheerios off of the top shelf at the grocery store.

It is for the this reason that I emphasize training modeled after everyday movements, that is, training that targets several muscles in a single exercise and utilizes your own body weight rather than a machine because, frankly, we don’t always have a machine to carry the kids up the stairs or take the dog for a walk.

In addition, I believe in constantly varying workouts and mixing exercises in as many combinations and patterns as creativity will allow. Why? Because routine is the enemy! Without variation, muscles adapt to the movements equaling less efficient performance and less results.

So what’s the bottom line? My workouts are consistently total body, functional, and fun yet never the same. I’ve worked with over 60 clients, of all ages and fitness levels, and am confident that with a little hard work, motivation, and a pinch of creativity, I can help you elicit nearly any desired fitness result.”

"Mark Twain once said that “really great people make you feel that you, too, can become great.” They may not have known each other but when I read that quote, I thought “ ‘Gosh-darn, he must be talking about Mobley’ ”. In fact, I can say whole-heartedly that John Mobley is not only really great person but a darn-good trainer too. Before I started as one of John’s clients, my idea of fitness consisted of how many hours I could log on the treadmill in one week and absolutely nothing (and I mean, nothing!) to do with weight training. Besides being intimidating, lifting weights also meant spending more time in the gym that I didn’t have as a medical student. Luckily, John’s enthusiasm and his use of total body resistance training were exactly what the doctor ordered. His use of compound, functional exercises cranked out with an elevated heart rate allowed me to get a kick-butt total body workout that also equaled fewer miles on the treadmill. Overall, without John Mobley, I would never have been able to realize my own true fitness potential nor would I have gained such self-confidence that extends beyond my workouts and into my daily life.
So…I guess Mark Twain was right… "

Dumbbell 101 ~ Small Group Personal Training "SGPT" session

Small Group Personal Training session
Compound exercises work several muscle groups at once and move the body through more than one joint movement. They tend to be more similar to the way that people naturally move in every-day activities. Isolation exercises restrict movement to one joint.

Beginner-level students will learn from hands-on, how-to instruction and personal attention with regard to form. Advanced students will learn ways to modify exercises so that they are constantly being challenged, as well as ways to combine traditional exercises for a more concise, whole-body workout. I enjoy helping students on a personal basis, walking among the class and providing individual, technical guidance on form and technique.

The goal of this SGPT session is to show you that you can get a good, quality workout in a short amount of time - using just two dumbbells and your own body weight. You'll get a full-body workout, using compound exercises so that you're working your whole body the whole time."
